Transformers: Age of Extinction picks up five years after the Battle of Chicago (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), where the destruction caused by Autobots and Decepticons led to fear and distrust among humans. The government, under the guise of a secret operation, has declared all Transformers as enemies and begun hunting them down.
Main Storyline:
Human Betrayal and Lockdown's Alliance: The CIA, led by Harold Attinger, has partnered with a Cybertronian bounty hunter named Lockdown to hunt Autobots and Decepticons alike. Lockdown is working for mysterious creators of the Transformers and seeks to capture Optimus Prime as part of his deal with Attinger.
Cade Yeager's Discovery: Cade Yeager, a struggling inventor living in Texas with his daughter Tessa, discovers a damaged truck while scavenging for parts. Upon repairing it, he realizes it’s Optimus Prime. Cade and his family are thrust into the conflict when the CIA's Cemetery Wind task force arrives to capture Optimus.
The Autobots Reunite: Optimus Prime, with the help of Cade, Tessa, and her boyfriend Shane, gathers the remaining Autobots—Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, and Crosshairs. Together, they uncover the truth behind the CIA's actions. The agency has been working with the tech company KSI, which is melting down Transformers to create human-controlled versions, including a prototype named Galvatron.
Galvatron and Megatron's Return: Galvatron, KSI’s centerpiece creation, turns out to be controlled by the mind of Megatron, who secretly uploaded his consciousness during the experiments. Megatron manipulates KSI to build an army of human-made Transformers to conquer Earth once more.
The Seed and the Final Battle: Lockdown gives Attinger a powerful Cybertronian device called the Seed, capable of creating Transformium—the metal used to build Transformers—through a massive explosion. Cade and the Autobots learn that Lockdown plans to use the Seed to destroy Earth. The Autobots, led by Optimus, team up to stop Galvatron's army and Lockdown.
The Dinobots: In the climactic battle in Hong Kong, Optimus awakens the legendary Dinobots—ancient, powerful Transformers in the form of giant robotic dinosaurs. They help turn the tide against Lockdown and Galvatron’s forces.
The Showdown: Optimus defeats Lockdown in a fierce battle but not before saving Cade and his family. Megatron (in Galvatron's body) retreats, vowing to return. Optimus decides to leave Earth temporarily to confront the Transformers' creators and protect the planet from further harm.
